Here is how to know what to do!
Let’s face it: You’ve probably had moments when you really wanted to take your Yoga practice with you—whether you’re traveling, working long hours, or just trying to squeeze in some self-care while balancing everything life throws at you.
But then... what happens?
You pull out your mat, and that nagging feeling hits you: What should I do now?
If you’ve ever experienced this, trust me—you’re not alone.
It’s one of the most common obstacles that keep people from practicing Yoga consistently, especially when life gets busy.
The good news? It doesn’t have to be so complicated.
You can take your practice with you anywhere, but you have to start by answering one simple question: What’s going to work for me right now?
The Power of Knowing What You Need
Sometimes, the biggest barrier is simply not knowing where to start.
Should you go for a full flow or just a few stretches? Should you focus on mobility or strength today? Should I meditate and breathe?
It's easy to feel overwhelmed by the many different directions you could take.
But here’s the thing: your Yoga practice doesn’t need to be a full-blown session every time to make a difference.
Small wins are progress, and they add up.
Here’s an example from my own journey—when I first started, I’d get on my mat and freeze because I didn’t know what I wanted to work on.
I was so focused on the “perfect” sequence that I missed out on the beauty of just being with my body in the moment.
Over time, I realized that sometimes all I needed was to focus on a few mindful breaths or stretch out a tired muscle. Or just go for a few rounds of Sun Salutaitons.
These small steps were just as transformative as any intense flow.
It’s about tuning in and listening to your body. Don’t worry about perfection or following a rigid routine.
If you can take a few deep breaths, feel your body, and connect with your own energy, you’ve done something amazing.
That’s Yoga, right there.
Building Your Practice, One Step at a Time
Here’s a little secret I’ve learned: there’s no right or wrong way to practice Yoga, especially when you’re on the go.
The key is to start with what you can do, not what you think you should do.
It’s about flexibility—not just in your body, but in your approach.
When I work with students, we always start small.
If you're pressed for time, consider these ideas to integrate into your day:
Morning stretches: Even 5-10 minutes of mindful stretches can wake up your body and set the tone for the day.
Breathwork: When you’re stuck in traffic, on a long flight, or taking a break at work, a few minutes of intentional breathing can bring you right back into the present moment. I use this playlist on to just breath, no need to count or do more.
Mindful moments: No mat, no problem! Take a moment to check in with your posture, how you're breathing, and how your body feels.
Taking your Yoga practice with you isn’t about turning every moment into a full class.
It’s about integrating those small moments that allow you to feel present, grounded, and connected to yourself, no matter where you are.
It’s All About the Journey
Let’s be honest: Yoga is more than just poses.
It’s about connecting with yourself, staying present, and learning to flow with whatever comes your way. It’s an ongoing journey of self-discovery.
And the best part? You don’t need a fancy studio or hours of free time to experience it.
So, the next time you’re stuck wondering what to do, remember—you are the expert of your own practice. Trust yourself to make it work. And if you’re ever unsure, start small. A few minutes of breath, a little stretch here and there, and some deep self-compassion go a long way.
